Time Folio Asset Management’s “TIME Active Exchange Traded Fund (ETF)” celebrated its 5th anniversary. Since the listing of the country’s first active ETF in 2021, it has surpassed KRW 9 trillion in operating assets (AUM), establishing itself as a leading brand in the domestic active ETF market.
According to Time Folio Asset Management on the 1st, the total net assets of TIME Active ETF recorded KRW 9.747 trillion as of the 29th of last month.
After surpassing AUM 4 trillion won for the first time as a domestic active ETF operator in January, it exceeded the KRW 9 trillion mark in just a few months.
Currently, Time Folio Asset Management operates a total of 19 active ETFs, including 8 in Korea and 11 globally. According to the Korea Exchange, as of the 29th of last month, the domestic stock-type active ETF market share remained the top in the industry at 26%.
TIME Active ETF tried to differentiate itself by using an active management strategy in the market that was centered on passive ETFs. Time portfolio asset management has focused on generating excess profits by incorporating research capabilities and market response capabilities accumulated during hedge fund management into ETF management.
The performance of the representative products is also noticeable. Since its listing in May 2021, the “TIME KOSPI Active ETF” has recorded a cumulative return of 217% as of the 27th of last month. The performance exceeds the KOSPI’s rise (159%) by 58 percentage points during the same period.
The “TIME Global AI Artificial Intelligence Active ETF” has recorded a cumulative return of 555% since its listing in May 2023. Net assets amounted to KRW 2.4074 trillion, the largest among active ETFs listed in Korea.
The monthly dividend product “TIME Korea Plus Dividend Active ETF” also recorded a 195% dividend-inclusive return over the past year. The total net assets exceeded KRW 1 trillion, attracting investors’ attention by holding special dividends for the third consecutive year.
The product line has also been steadily expanded. Starting with Korea’s leading index ETF, it has expanded its investment areas to include Nasdaq 100, S&P 500, global artificial intelligence (AI), space and defense, bio, dividends, bond mix, and EMP-type products.
Time Folio Asset Management rebranded the existing “TIMEFLIO Active ETF” brand as “TIME Active ETF” in January. It is a strategy to convey the management philosophy of “investment is timing” more intuitively.
“The past five years have been a time to prove with actual performance that active ETFs can generate excess performance through management capabilities beyond simple index tracking,” said Kim Nam-ho, head of the ETF management division at Time Folio Asset Management. “We will focus on providing consistently trusted performance to investors through active rebalancing and discovery of differentiated stocks.”
“The next five years will be a time for TIME Active ETF to become a key solution for investor asset management,” said Kim Nam-eui, head of ETF Strategy Division. “We will continue to upgrade our brand, products, pensions and asset management solutions.”
