Harrison & Hetherington (H&H) is extending into the Borders and North Northumberland with a new dedicated Farm Machinery Division based at St Boswells Auction Mart.
This expansion aims to provide a comprehensive machinery auction service for farmers, contractors, and rural businesses.
Iain Dick, an experienced auctioneer, will lead the new division alongside regional sales manager and auctioneer David Holliday.
Mr Dick said: “Our aim is to provide vendors with the most effective route to market while giving buyers access to a wider choice of quality machinery.
“Whether through an on-farm dispersal sale, a collective auction, or an online timed sale, we can tailor the service to suit our customers’ needs.”
The expanded service will offer on-farm dispersal sales, collective machinery auctions, online timed sales, and hybrid auctions that combine traditional on-site events with live internet bidding.
This approach allows buyers to participate either in person or remotely.
Mr Dick said: “Our hybrid approach is also a real strength.
“By combining an on-farm or on-site sale with live internet bidding, we retain the atmosphere and competitive nature of a traditional live auction while allowing buyers who cannot be there on the day to take part in real time.
“For vendors, that can significantly extend the reach of a sale and bring more potential purchasers into the bidding.”
H&H’s next on-farm dispersal sale in the Borders will take place on Friday, September 25, at Bemersyde Farm, Melrose, on behalf of Messrs Malcolm Bruce.
This will be followed by a collective sale of farm vehicles, machinery, implements, and small tools at St Boswells Mart on Friday, November 13, with additional sales scheduled in the coming months.
Mr Holliday said: “Creating a dedicated machinery division at St Boswells strengthens our presence in the Borders and enables us to provide an even more responsive service to customers throughout the region.
“Backed by our experienced team, established online platform, and live internet bidding facilities, we’re well placed to support both vendors and purchasers in an increasingly competitive marketplace.”
The new division will operate from St Boswells, continuing to serve the agricultural community across the Borders and North Northumberland.
