TLC acquires 2nd distribution warehouse

Share

TLC Supplies has acquired a second large warehouse as part of the Victorian care company’s logistics strategy for selling healthcare consumables and related products.

TLC Healthcare owns and operates healthcare precincts with co-located residential aged care, community medical centres, health clubs, early learning centres, registered training facilities and commercial cafés, across Melbourne and Geelong.

TLC Supplies, which launched in mid-2022, services its own and other aged care centres, medical centres, early learning centres and hospitals.

The new property in Melbourne’s Clyde North will serve as a key storage facility and feeder for TLC Supplies’ existing, highly automated distribution centre in Chelsea Heights.

TLC’s general manager of distribution and procurement, Alastair Murray said the new site was a substantial boost to the distribution network.

“By dedicating this facility to storage and bulk-breaking, we create a seamless feeder loop to our Chelsea Heights hub. This allows our existing Kardex technology to focus purely on high-speed, accurate picking and packing, ensuring we maintain and improve the rapid service our B2B customers expect.”

New home for maintenance team

The Clyde North facility will also house a new, dedicated joinery team, which is being established as an extension of the existing maintenance division.

It has responsibility for:

  • upkeep of existing TLC residential homes, medical centres, health clubs, early learning centres, training academy rooms and village cafés and bars
  • delivery of small building jobs where practical and in line with TLC’s core service offerings.

TLC chief executive officer and managing director Lou Pascuzzi called the warehouse investment a forward-thinking move serving two key strategic goals.

Lou Pascuzzi (TLC Healthcare)

“Firstly, it substantially de-risks our supply chain and enhances our capacity to meet growing product demand from our own businesses and a broad range of other client organisations in the market.

“Secondly, by co-locating our new joinery team here, we are integrating essential maintenance and minor construction services directly into our operations, adding tangible value to the asset management of our portfolio and service offering,” he said.

“This facility is more than a warehouse; it’s a platform for sustainable growth of the TLC Supplies’ business in its own right and promotes TLC’s agenda of concentric service diversification.”
