Multiple agencies, including the Mine Safety and Health Administration and the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences, are investigating the cause and manner of death. Foul play is not suspected.

Calloway is survived by his wife and two children.

Warrior Met Coal mines steelmaking coal and exports to 35 countries. The company had a 53% lower incidence rate than the U.S. rate in 2025.
