According to the FTMTA, a total of 43 new self-propelled forage harvesters has been registered in the Republic of Ireland in 2026, up to the end of June. Although there may be a small number of additional registrations to be recorded yet in 2026, as things stand, year-on-year registrations are down by 12.24%.
The 2026 figure is six units behind that recorded in 2025. Nonetheless, 2026 registrations to date are 17.8% above the 15-year average.
Claas, for the 15th year running (since brand data recording began), has topped the forager sales market in Ireland. They accounted for 53.5% (23 units) of the market, followed by John Deere with 32.5% (14 units) and Krone with 14% (six units). New Holland hasn’t yet recorded any new self-propelled forage harvester registrations in 2026, marking its first year not to do so since 2020.
Meanwhile, a total of five used forage harvesters were imported during 2026.
These were two Claas, two Krone and one New Holland machine. Five new self-propelled mowers – Krone Big M 450s – were registered, on par with each year since 2023 while three used Krone Big M 450s were also imported so far this year.
