As we near World Intellectual Property (IP) Day on April 2026, AI DLP company Jazz’s CEO and co-founder Ido Livneh is highlighting the importance of preventing high-stakes data loss.
The awareness day was founded by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) to spotlight the role of IP in innovation and creativity. To ensure the individuals and/or companies behind these ideas and inventions get the credit they deserve, organizations must be vigilant about reducing the risk of data loss and theft.
Livneh said, “On World IP Day, it is critical to remember that innovation is at risk if not properly monitored and protected. IP is constantly moving across systems, teams and tools, now with the added complexity of AI, making traditional, reactive approaches to security borderline obsolete.”
Perhaps the most notable instance of IP exposure in recent weeks comes from emerging AI giant Anthropic, highlighting the need for more advanced, modernized data loss prevention (DLP) controls for small businesses all the way up to major, household-name corporations.
“Earlier in April, one of the trendiest AI companies right now Anthropic unknowingly exposed a significant amount of internal source code for the Claude Code terminal agent. This happened through an npm release packaging misconfiguration, which exposed internal code publicly. Even the fastest-growing technology brands with access to strong security and governance resources can have accidental, or even malicious, IP exposure when controls fall short,” Livneh explained.
To confidently encourage innovation, basic DLP is no longer sufficient. Context is absolutely critical.
Livneh continued, “Companies that are creating and building must embrace a deeper, contextual understanding of their data, including how it flows, who is interacting with it and the intent behind those interactions. To truly protect IP, organizations need intelligent, continuous monitoring powered by systems that can interpret behavior and risk as it happens. They need answers, not just alerts. With actionable insights from an effective DLP solution, businesses can safeguard their most valuable assets while empowering their teams to innovate with confidence and speed.”
So on World IP Day and beyond, remember, IP fuels your company’s success, so it’s time to put the tools in place to protect it.
