Responding to reporters’ questions on May 30, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Pham Thu Hang said the USTR’s decision to launch the investigation is a procedure conducted under US law and that related issues will continue to be reviewed through bilateral consultations and discussions.
According to Hang, Vietnam consistently supports strengthening intellectual property protection and enforcement as part of efforts to build a transparent and healthy business environment, promote innovation and fulfill international commitments.
The spokesperson said Vietnam and the United States have maintained close communication channels on the issue in recent years, adding that the US side has acknowledged policies, measures and progress made by Vietnam in the field of intellectual property.
“We stand ready to continue consultations, share information and clarify policies, regulations and measures that are being implemented and planned,” she said.
Vietnam also called on the United States to make objective and balanced assessments while fully recognising the country’s efforts and substantive achievements in intellectual property protection and enforcement.
According to the Foreign Ministry, future exchanges will continue in a constructive and cooperative spirit, consistent with the framework of the Vietnam-US Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and aimed at serving the shared interests of both countries’ people and business communities.
