RBI, SEBI may regulate digital gold, physical gold backing proposed: Report

RBI and SEBI are considering rules for digital gold to protect investors and make the growing market more transparent, The Economic Times reported. The Finance Ministry has sought views on treating digital gold as a regulated investment under existing securities law. The proposed rules could require companies to keep matching physical gold, report holdings regularly and allow independent checks.
