MADISON, Wis. — The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources announced Wednesday that it will close its central office in downtown Madison at the end of the month.
The office is in the GEF2 building, which is being sold under Gov. Tony Evers’ Vision 2030 plan. The plan calls for reducing state office space as agencies adopt a more modern approach to their workforces, officials said.
Madison-based DNR staff will relocate to Hill Farms, which will become a DNR field office. The office will not be regularly open to the public, but people can schedule appointments with local staff.
Members of the public can meet with staff in person or contact them by phone. They are asked to call the DNR information line at 1-888-936-7463 from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily or use the DNR’s online point-of-contact tool to identify the appropriate staff member.
The DNR’s central office will close to the public on Sept. 30.
