MWANZA: THE Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism, Dr Hassan Abbasi, has urged graduates of the Pasiansi Wildlife Training Institute to uphold ethics, professionalism and accountability as they enter public service.
Dr Abbasi made the call during the 63rd graduation ceremony of the institute held in Mwanza, where a total of 388 graduates were awarded certificates after completing training in various fields, including wildlife conservation, law enforcement, tour guiding and security.
He congratulated the graduates for demonstrating commitment and a strong understanding of their studies, saying they were well prepared to undertake responsibilities related to protecting wildlife resources and combating wildlife-related crimes.
“As you enter the workforce, uphold ethics and perform your duties professionally,” Dr Abbasi stressed.
Meanwhile, Dr Abbasi announced measures to address some of the challenges facing the institute, including facilitating the provision of books and other training equipment.

He said the institute would receive 200 binoculars for training purposes, two training bee aircraft for exercises in dealing with dangerous and problem animals, more than 20 tents and 50 pairs of boots for wildlife officers.
He also pledged to facilitate the construction of modern classrooms to improve the learning and teaching environment at the institute.
Dr Abbasi further said the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism, through the Samia Scholarship programme, would provide scholarship opportunities to students admitted to study at the Pasiansi Wildlife Training Institute.
He said the measures form part of broader efforts to strengthen the training of wildlife professionals and prepare personnel with the professionalism, discipline and skills required to protect Tanzania’s wildlife resources and natural heritage.
