NBU assets increased to UAH 3.39 trillion in the first half of the year, while international reserves decreased to $51.3 billion.
The National Bank of Ukraine signed the interim condensed consolidated financial statements for the period ended June 30, 2026. This was reported by the NBU.
As a result of the first half of the year, the volume of the National Bank’s assets increased by 3% compared to the consolidated figures as of December 31, 2025, reaching UAH 3,393 billion.
The main reason for the change in assets was a 12% increase in the volume of non-resident securities included in Ukraine’s international reserves. Their volume rose to UAH 1,218 billion.
At the same time, the total volume of international reserves at the end of the first half of 2026 decreased by 10% — to USD 51.3 billion. At the end of 2025, this figure was USD 57.3 billion.
NBU liabilities amount to UAH 2.7 trillion
As of the end of the first half, the National Bank’s liabilities amounted to UAH 2,712 billion, or 80% of the balance sheet currency.
The main changes in the structure of liabilities occurred in two directions.
In particular, the amount under the item “Funds of state and other institutions” increased by 37%, to UAH 658.6 billion.
At the same time, the volume of liabilities on loans received by the National Bank from the International Monetary Fund decreased by 28%, to UAH 16.1 billion.
NBU capital increased by 17.6%
The National Bank’s equity capital increased by 17.6% in the first half of 2026 — from UAH 580 billion to UAH 682 billion.
The main reason for this growth was the accumulation of current year profit.
The consolidated financial result of the NBU for the first six months of 2026 amounted to UAH 103.9 billion.
The largest impact on this figure came from operations with financial assets and liabilities in foreign currency and monetary gold — UAH 84.7 billion. The NBU noted that this is related to changes in the official exchange rate.
At the same time, the National Bank emphasized that the consolidated profit reflected in the financial statements is not part of the profit to be distributed, which must be transferred to the state budget.
The NBU’s liabilities regarding the profit to be distributed, which will be transferred to the state budget, will be determined based on the results of 2026. This information is expected to be published in spring 2027 after confirmation by external audit and approval by the NBU Board of the annual financial statements for 2026.
In April and May 2026, the National Bank already transferred part of the profit to be distributed for 2025 to the state budget. The amount was UAH 146,111 million.
