Running for a cause: Land Park Donut Dash raises money for children’s hospitals
HEFT TAKES US TO TODAY’S DONUT DASH. A PEACEFUL SUNRISE IS READY, SET, GO. JUST BEFORE. DASHING AND DOWNING DONUTS. 16 YEARS STRONG, THE SACRAMENTO DONUT DASH GAVE HUNDREDS A SUGAR HIGH WHILE HITTING THE PAVEMENT THROUGH SACRAMENTO’S LAND PARK DONUT CREW. COME ON, RUNNERS ON THE COMPETITIVE END, MAKING TWO FULL LOOPS ON A MILE COURSE, CRUSHING FOR FAMED MURRAY’S DONUTS AND TOPPING IT OFF WITH TWO MORE MILES. WHEN I WORKED AT IT AND I PRACTICED AND I GOT TO A POINT WHERE I FELT LIKE I COULD COMPETE TODAY. NICK. SO TO NOT ONLY CRUSHING SWEET TREATS, BUT ALSO THE COMPETITION FINISHING FIRST. LET’S HEAR IT FOR HIM. WINNER RIGHT HERE. AND HE SAYS HE’S JUST HAPPY TO FINISH. GIVE BACK AND ALSO KEEP ALL OF THOSE DONUTS DOWN. Sixteen years strong, the Sacramento Donut Dash ran through the Land Park neighborhood of Sacramento on Saturday morning.The race not only gives runners a sugar high as they hit the pavement but also the event has given back, for over a decade, to children hospitalized locally.Organizers told KCRA 3 that since the run began, they’ve collected over $1.5 million for children hospitalized at Sutter and UC Davis hospitals.The race, traditionally held in March, is known to include an initial two-mile run, followed by an intermission where runners eat four donuts.
