BISMARCK, ND (KXNET) — On Saturday, March 9, people gathered at the Heritage Center for ND Rise — a benefit concert designed to help bring awareness to cancer and encourage concerned citizens to be screened early and often.
At the event, entertainment acts like the Braveheart Band and AB Band performed for the crowd.
Bismarck plastic surgeon Rick Becker shared his experience not just treating patients, but also about the trials that can come from having loved ones who have been diagnosed with cancer.
Christine Shepherd, event organizer says, “I’m trying to help to get people to think about screening,” says Event Organizer Christine Shepherd. “Think about screening for all different types of cancer. I know that the cancer center has a bevy of resources, but people need to know that they do have it, and people need to talk about it and utilize it.”
NDRise interacts with the community to get people engaged, get them talking, and to rally families to get involved for their loved ones’ sake. For more information, visit the organization’s Facebook page here.
