Agricultural machinery auctioneer Cheffins has been appointed to host a timed online machinery sale on behalf of the Suffolk-based Euston Estate, following the decision to extend its collaboration with local farmers, growers and contractors at RG Abrey Farms.
Comprising over 70 lots of well-maintained modern agricultural machinery, the auction will take place between 3rd and 10th September.
The Euston Estate, which extends to over 10,500 acres of farmland, recently announced the next stage in its long-standing relationship with RG Abrey Farms, which has been growing the root vegetables together on the estate for the past 15 years.
The estate has agreed to a new ten-year arrangement with the contractor to now include all cereal farming.
Duke of Grafton said: “Building on a successful collaboration spanning 15 years, Euston Farms and RG Abrey Farms have agreed to a new ten-year arrangement that expands our collaboration beyond root vegetables to include cereal farming.
“This agreement reflects the strength of our long-standing working relationship and our shared commitment to the long-term success and sustainability of farming at Euston.
“As a result, much of our agricultural machinery which was used for cereals and arable crops is now surplus to requirements; hence, our auction with Cheffins.”
‘Reliability and regular servicing’
The sale will feature a selection of well-maintained, high-value tractors and machinery, with highlights including a 2024 JCB Fastrac 4220 tractor, a 2019 Fendt 718 tractor, a 2016 Fendt 716 tractor, a 2020 Amazone Pantera and a 2018 Sands Horizon 5500 self-propelled sprayer.
These will be offered alongside a range of arable equipment trailers.

Every item of machinery in the sale has been carefully maintained as part of a highly professional farming operation, where reliability and regular servicing are fundamental to day-to-day management.
“This auction presents an excellent opportunity for farmers and contractors to invest in high-quality machinery following harvest, helping to strengthen and future-proof their businesses. We anticipate strong interest from farmers, contractors and machinery dealers from across the UK.”
Three of the farm staff at the Euston Estate will transfer employment to Abreys while continuing to be based at Euston.
Others, including the farm manager, will remain with Euston to focus on wider estate priorities, such as the growth of the estate’s Red Poll cattle herd, environmental stewardship, conservation enhancement, hedge and woodland management, educational visits and additional opportunities.
The Euston Estate was saddened by the recent passing of estate director Robert Childerhouse. The machinery sale is part of the planned changes to the estate’s farming operation and follows the new ten-year arrangement with RG Abrey Farms.
