Ulverston: Further details on housing development off Watery Lane

Blake Henderson (Watery Lane) Ltd has submitted a ‘reserved matters’ application to Westmorland and Furness Council to build 27 homes on land off Watery Lane.

This comes after an outline planning permission was granted in 2022 by the former South Lakeland District Council for the construction of up to 28 homes on the site.

According to planning documents, the proposed 27 properties will consist of a range of different housing types to suit a variety of needs from one-bedroom apartments to detached four-bedroom houses.

The design and access statement says: “These current proposals will revitalise this vacant land and provide a variety of new homes within easy walking distance of Ulverston town centre and all local amenities.”

Plans say parking will be provided at a rate of two spaces per house on the site, with residents in the apartments having access to a shared communal car park.

There are designated visitor parking bays proposed throughout the site as well as on street spaces, plans add.

Open space for residents will be provided at the centre of the housing scheme as well as in the southwestern corner of the site and at the entrance of the proposed development.

Plans add the site is also within a five -minute walk of Lightburn Park with a children’s play area, skate park, football pitch and large open green space.

This application is undergoing public consultation.
