Calling all Texas hunters and anglers, did you know your license will be expiring soon? The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) is reminding you to purchase your new license for the 2024-25 season.
The current Texas hunting and fishing licenses (except the Year-from-Purchase All-Water Fishing Package) will expire at the end of August. The new licenses for the 2024-25 season go on sale today Thursday, August 15.
You can purchase a variety of licenses through the official TPWD website, or in person at locations throughout Texas and at TPWD offices. You can also buy them by calling (800) 895-4248. But please remember there is a $5 administrative fee for the phone and online purchases.
The digital license option will be available online on August 15. When you have a digital license you won’t receive a printed license or tags and you need to keep your digital license available through your mobile device while in the field. Digital tagging is required of digital license holders through the Texas Hunt & Fish mobile app.
Hunting and fishing regulations for the 2024-25 season are available online at outdoorannual.com. While you’re there download the app it’s free and will make your life easier. With the app, you can also look up your license, find hunting seasons and regulations by location.
The app has a new name, now The Texas Hunt & Fish (it was called My Texas Hunt Harvest). With the app, you can make submissions of mandatory harvest reports, including alligator gar harvest reporting, and it supports digital tagging of harvested deer, turkey, oversized red drum and spotted seatrout for certain license holders. You can also complete your on-site registration for several TPWD public hunting lands.
Be sure to enter the Lifetime License Drawing. Three people will each win a Lifetime Super Combo License and never need to buy a Texas hunting or fishing license again. It’s $5 an entry and you can purchase those online, at a licensed retailer or by phone. The first entry deadline is Sept. 30.
