Jamshedpur: RVS College of Engineering and Technology organized a one-day workshop on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) to create awareness among students and faculty members about the growing importance of protecting innovation and research.
The workshop featured Dr. Kanika Prasad from the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Jamshedpur, as the keynote speaker. She was welcomed by Training and Placement Head Prof. (Dr.) Vikram Sharma and workshop coordinator Prof. Thakur Pranav Kumar Gautam with a shawl and memento. The programme commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp.
In his welcome address, Dr. Vikram Sharma highlighted the significance of Intellectual Property Rights in the modern era of innovation and technological advancement. Introducing the theme of the workshop, Prof. Gautam stated that with the rapid growth of research and creativity, awareness regarding intellectual property had become essential for students, researchers, and academicians.
Through a detailed digital presentation, Dr. Kanika Prasad explained various dimensions of Intellectual Property Rights, including patents, copyrights, and legal ownership of inventions. She stressed that no inventor could claim exclusive ownership of an innovation unless it was legally patented. She also discussed the increasing global relevance of intellectual property protection in research and industry.
Expressing satisfaction over the successful organization of the workshop, college Treasurer Shatrughana Singh said the programme would greatly benefit both students and faculty members by enhancing their understanding of intellectual property laws and innovation management.
The workshop concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dean Research Dr. Rakesh Kumar.
