China holds two-thirds of global robotics patents

(ECNS) — The number of effective robotics patents in China have exceeded more than 190,000, accounting for about two-thirds of the world’s total, said Xin Guobin, vice minister of China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology during an opening speech at the World Robot Conference in Beijing on Wednesday.

“Robots, known as the ‘pearl at the top of the crown of manufacturing’, greatly influence the integration of artificial intelligence development and the real economy. At present, scientific and technological advancements, as well as industrial transformation have driven significant productivity gains, with robots integrated into daily life at unprecedented depth,” said Xin.

China has maintained the world’s largest industrial robot market for 11 consecutive years, and the newly installed capacity has accounted for more than half of the global figure for the past three years. Robot density in the manufacturing industry reached 470per 10,000 employees, an increase of nearly 19 times in a decade. Sevice robots have been used in multiple sectors on a large scale, including family services, health, and elderly care, with the average annual growth rate of China’s robotics industry hitting 15 percent, he added.

In the future, China will promote further integration between technology and industrial innovations, alongside the “robot +” application, Xin concluded.
