Pune resident loses Rs94.4 lakh in fake digital gold investment fraud |

Pune: A 55-year-old resident of Kalyaninagar was lured into investing in a fake digital gold scheme, duping him of Rs 94.4 lakh.

Pune cyber police registered a case against the fraudsters on Thursday.

An officer said, “The complainant works with a private company. In November last year, the crooks contacted him through a social media platform and assured him high returns on investments in ‘Digital Gold’. He transferred Rs 94.4 lakh to different bank account provided by the fraudsters between Nov and Dec last year,”

He added, “When the complainant tried to withdraw his money, the crooks demanded additional payments. He then realised he had been duped and filed an online complaint.
