Srinagar, May 10: Bilaliya Educational Institute, Lal Bazar Campus, organised an exclusive faculty training session on the theme “Building Sustainable Futures”, bringing together educators, thought leaders, and experts for an engaging dialogue on sustainability, responsible living, environmental consciousness, and social responsibility.
The programme was graced by Aijaz Ahmad Bhat, IPS SSP Traffic City, as Chief Guest. In his address, he stressed the importance of mindful living, collective responsibility, and active public participation in securing a sustainable future for coming generations. He also appreciated the role educational institutions can play in shaping environmentally conscious and responsible citizens.
The programme featured renowned educationist and sustainability advocate Dr. Haleema Sadia as keynote speaker. Dr. Haleema Sadia, Principal of Edufam International Academy Dubai and recipient of the International Achiever Award for Education Excellence, addressed the faculty on the importance of integrating sustainability into everyday life.
In her thought-provoking session, she emphasised that sustainability must begin from our homes, kitchens, wardrobes, and daily habits. She highlighted the responsible use of water and resources and encouraged participants to adopt practical lifestyle changes for building a sustainable future.
The session concluded with a collective pledge by participants to contribute actively towards environmental responsibility at personal, institutional, and societal levels. Chairman BEI, Manzoor Ahmad Wangnoo, while addressing the gathering, hailed the historic 100-day “Nasha Mukta” initiative launched by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, describing it as a bold and timely movement to safeguard the future of youth. He emphasized that the fight against drug abuse cannot be won by institutions alone and appreciated the excellent role being played by Civil Society, Police, educators, parents, and responsible citizens in creating awareness and protecting the younger generation from the menace of drugs.
He thanked the distinguished guests for their inspiring insights and appreciated the enthusiastic participation of the faculty members. He reiterated the institution’s commitment towards promoting environmental awareness, responsible education, moral values, and sustainable practices, stating that educational institutions must not only impart knowledge but also nurture responsible and compassionate citizens.
The session was widely appreciated for its practical approach, meaningful engagement, and strong message that sustainability and social responsibility are not merely subjects of discussion but a way of life shaped through individual choices and collective action.
