The Minister of Water and Environment Eng. Tawfiq al-Sharjabi said “The Fourth Environmental Status Report for the Republic of Yemen 2026 represents a national strategic document and a scientific reference for assessing the state of the environment in Yemen, monitoring its challenges, and determining the priorities and necessary interventions to protect natural resources and promote sustainable development paths.”

He made his statement during his contribution to the consultative workshop to discuss the final draft of the Fourth Environmental Status Report of the Republic of Yemen 2026.

Al-Sharjabi stated that that the report comes amid increasing environmental challenges, including the deterioration of water resources, desertification and soil erosion, the decline of biodiversity, pressures on the marine and coastal environment, challenges in waste management, and deteriorating air quality, along with the impacts of climate change, accompanied by droughts, floods, and extreme weather events.
