DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) – Davenport is planning $51 million in upgrades to the aging machinery at its sanitary sewer treatment facility.
On Thursday, city engineer Brian Schadt toured the facility with the media to show where those funds will go.
The plant processes the water that gets flushed down the drain and removes waste and harmful pathogens so it returns safely to the river.
They do this through different machinery, including its digester and belt press.
Davenport said it provides wastewater treatment to 141,347 people, which includes Bettendorf, Panorama Park and Riverdale.
