Tottenham Hotspur trio Alfie Devine, Ashley Phillips, and Jamie Donley are expected to be loaned out by the end of the month, whilst Mikey Moore remains as part of Ange Postecoglu’s first-team squad this season, as per Dan Kilpatrick.
Phillips and Donley have already been linked to loan moves this summer. Alfie Devine spent last season out on loan, first at League One side Port Vale – and then with Phillips at Plymouth Argyle for the second half of the campaign.
It is a seriously glowing endorsement of Mikey Moore that despite just turning 17, he is expected to be a part of the club’s plans this season. He is younger than all of the three aforementioned players expected to head out on loan, and whilst that is not a slight on those three – it shows how rapid Moore’s development has been so far.
Of course, there will be hopes of Championship loans where they will play regularly every week, but if no club in the second tier can guarantee that game – then a loan to a good League One club is not the worst thing that could happen. Dane Scarlett’s loan to Portsmouth in League One was more beneficial than his loan to Ipswich Town (then) in the Championship.
As mentioned above, Ashley Phillips has been linked to Getafe, but a loan at a lesser level where he plays 35-40 games may be a better move for him.
The aforementioned loan rumors regarding Donley mentioned Birmingham City, who are the favorites for the League One title, after spending beyond unprecedented levels of money for the level, under their new-look American ownership.
As the piece mentions, Birmingham manager Chris Davies is a former senior assistant coach at Spurs, making the link particularly worth noting.
Dane Scarlett has joined Sunderland on loan, so if any of the above players join Championship sides it will be worth keeping an eye on their fixtures against each other
