Premier League side to sign ‘talented’ Chelsea man on loan, they think they’ve found the perfect club

With just a couple of days until Chelsea’s Premier League season kicks off, the Blues are continuing to conduct transfer business late into the window.

A host of both incomings and outgoings are expected at Stamford Bridge in the next two weeks, as they look to finetune their squad for Enzo Maresca.

While signings such as Joao Felix and Victor Osimhen are still being discussed to potentially change their attack for the upcoming campaign, loaning young players out is still seen as an important step to take.

With a limited amount of international spots left to be filled, expect a number of domestic loans that could well strengthen some rival Premier League sides.

This looks set to be the case in the form of Lesley Ugochukwu, who popped up with a couple of important goals for the Blues during pre-season.

Southampton to sign Lesley Ugochukwu on loan from Chelsea

According to The Athletic, Southampton are in advanced talks to bring the midfielder in on a season-long loan.

The article goes on to say that Chelsea believe the club, as well as their manager Russell Martin, are the perfect scenario to help him improve this season.

Despite a bad injury suffered last season, he still impressed manager at the time Mauricio Pochettino, who described the youngster as ‘talented’.

Competition for places in midfield at Chelsea

There was always going to be serious competition for places in the middle of the park for next season, even if Conor Gallagher’s move to Atletico Madrid does go through.

Enzo Fernandez is set to be named a vice-captain at the club, and will likely begin the campaign with the armband in the absence of Reece James and Ben Chilwell.

Moises Caicedo is likely to play a key role, while Romeo Lavia has certainly staked his claim for minutes with a very impressive pre-season, as he looks to leave his injury woes in the past once and for all.
