Park Geun-ryang has reported total assets of 104.9 billion won, ranking as the wealthiest candidate in the upcoming local elections. It is unusual for a proportional representation candidate for a basic-level local council to report assets exceeding 100 billion won.

According to asset disclosure forms submitted to the National Election Commission on the 15th, the total assets of Park’s family stand at 104,928,953,000 won.

By family member, Park himself reported 47.346 billion won, his spouse 55.426 billion won, and his eldest son 2.156 billion won. His parents and eldest daughter declined to disclose their assets, citing independent livelihoods.

The largest portions of the wealth come from unlisted stocks and financial assets. The value of holdings in Big Mama Seafood, an unlisted seafood processing company, was particularly dominant. Park holds 39,441 shares (worth approximately 15.135 billion won) in the company, while his spouse holds 54,369 shares (worth approximately 20.865 billion won).

Big Mama Seafood, which manufactures and sells seafood products including seafood broth tea bags, recorded sales of 33.9 billion won and operating profit of 5.9 billion won last year. Park is reportedly the vice president of Big Mama Seafood.

The couple also holds corporate and financial bonds issued by companies including KT, SK Gas, KB Financial Group, and Woori Financial Group. They each reported holdings of U.S. Treasury bonds (92,900 units) worth approximately 932 million won.

They have also invested in shares of major listed companies at home and abroad, including POSCO Holdings, Nvidia, and Tesla.

Their bank deposits were also substantial. Deposits at commercial banks including Shinhan Bank and Woori Bank under the names of Park and his spouse were confirmed to total in the hundreds of billions of won range.

High-end vehicles and jewelry also drew attention. Vehicles registered under his spouse’s name include a 2025 Mercedes-Benz AMG GT43 (154.4 million won) and a 2023 Mercedes-Benz C200 Coupe (45.85 million won).

Notably, the couple’s reported jewelry holdings totaled 1.1257 billion won. Park reported a Rolex platinum watch worth 130 million won, a gold necklace worth 121 million won, and a white gold diamond bracelet worth 53 million won, among other items.

His spouse was found to hold numerous high-end watches, including a Rolex Ice Blue watch worth 95 million won, a Daytona (80 million won), and a Panda Gold (57 million won). The list also included Van Cleef earrings and diamond rings worth tens of millions of won.

Real estate assets totaled 1.68264 billion won. Park owns an apartment in Hwamyeong New Town in Buk-gu, Busan (920 million won) and an officetel on Geumgok-daero (110 million won). He also reported two commercial properties (worth approximately 352.64 million won) in Gwangdo-myeon, Tongyeong, his electoral district, along with a 300 million won jeonse (a Korean lease system requiring a large lump-sum deposit instead of monthly rent) deposit.

Meanwhile, the wealthiest candidate among metropolitan government heads was Oh Se-hoon, the People Power Party’s candidate for Seoul mayor, with reported assets of 7.2896 billion won. Among National Assembly candidates, Kim Yong-nam, the Democratic Party of Korea’s candidate for Pyeongtaek-B in Gyeonggi Province, reported the largest assets at 12.77049 billion won.
