LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – February is Black History Month, and a local business owner is celebrating by encouraging community members to shop small.
The annual Black-Owned Business Expo is back this weekend for its fourth year.
The event features several small businesses and entrepreneurs throughout Lincoln and the surrounding areas.
On top of vendors, there will also be live entertainment and a raffle.
The event is put on by the owner of Sarah’s Southern Comfort Foods, and her favorite part is bringing the community together.
“One of my favorite parts is watching everyone network with each other and have a great time,” Sarah Wells-Britt said. “That’s what community is about.”
Sarah also said she wanted to create a space for businesses that don’t necessarily have a brick-and-mortar location.
The event is free and runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at City Impact on Saturday.
