RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – March Madness is coming to the poker tables of Club Cal Nevada for the third annual Ante Up Poker Tournament. It’s sure to be an evening of food, drinks and fun for any card shark or first-time player while benefiting college-bound cancer survivors with scholarships for the Fall 2024 semester.
Danny Heinsohn, founder and executive director of My Hometown Heroes, stopped by Morning Break to invite the Northern Nevada community to this feel-good poker showdown where players also get to enjoy all the action of the NCAA March Madness tournament on the big screens of the sports center.
The poker tournament takes place Saturday, March 30. Check-in begins at 5 p.m. and the tournament will begin at 6 p.m.
Tournament buy-in is $125 per person or $1,000 for a table of 10. Table sponsor opportunities are also available for $1,500 and $2,500. Each ticket includes $2,500 in chips plus food and drink with special opportunities throughout the night to receive additional chips.
The first place winner will take home a $500 prize, second place wins $250 and third place wins $125.
The following weekend, My Hometown Heroes is also hosting the Breakfast of Champions at South 40. This event will honor and acknowledge the unsung heroes within the community who champion the dreams of college-bound cancer survivors. Tickets for this event start at $125 with table sponsorships available. Doors open Saturday, April 6 at 7:30 a.m. with breakfast beginning at 8 a.m.
