First Bank, based in the Shenandoah Valley, is making a move in the Roanoke Valley. Already in business in Botetourt County, First Bank wants to put a branch in downtown Roanoke.
The individual leading First Bankâs expansion, Todd Ross, was a banker and lender at Pinnacle Bank in Roanoke previously.
âWe make investments where, Iâll say, we have the right market leader and the right team in place,â said Dennis Dysart, president and chief operating officer of First Bank.
Hailing from the northern Shenandoah Valley, First Bank is a 20-office bank based in Strasburg with $1.4 billion in total assets. It started its Roanoke Valley expansion in 2021 when it bought the Bank of Fincastle. All of its area branches are concentrated in Botetourt County â Blue Ridge, Daleville, Fincastle, Troutville and Cloverdale.

Last month it sent the State Corporation Commission a new-branch application to occupy the former BB&T branch location at 310 First St. S.W. Dysart said Tuesday he didnât know of any barriers to approval. If approved, the branch will open about June 1, he said.
