HES completes contract for conveyor system drumsWest Yorkshire-based Hallamshire Engineering Services (HES) has manufactured and supplied Rema Tip Top, a leading provider of wear protection, conveying and mineral processing solutions, with 630mm-diameter slatted pulley drums that will form an integral part of an end-user client’s conveyor system for a glass-handling plant.

The pulley drums, which have a 360mm face length, were designed and engineered by HES to meet the specific requirements of Rema Tip Top’s customer and were delivered as part of an ongoing supply relationship between the two companies.

Neil Bettley, from Hallamshire Engineering Services, said: “This project is a result of the excellent working relationship we have enjoyed with Rema Tip Top for over two decades, producing pulley drums for end-user customer applications across a range of industries. This project relied on our ability to manufacture slatted drums to an exact end-user specification and is testament to our collaborative relationship with Rema Tip Top.”

HES’ pulley drums, improve the performance of conveyor systems by allowing fine glass particles, cullet, labels, packaging debris, and dust to fall through the pulley itself, rather than accumulate on it, helping to reduce build-up and prevent material from becoming trapped within the conveyor system.

This reduction in debris brings several operational benefits, including more consistent alignment and a lowered risk of belt damage, as entrapped glass fragments between a belt and a solid pulley drum can cause abrasion or cutting. In addition, reduced debris build-up means maintenance teams spend less time cleaning pulleys, cutting downtime and labour costs. Cleaner pulleys, in turn, reduce the likelihood of belt slip, mis-tracking, premature bearing wear, and unplanned maintenance events.

Steve Halliday, Eastern regional manager at Rema Tip Top, said: “This is just the latest in a series of high-value engineering solutions where we have partnered with Hallamshire Engineering Services over the years. The pulley drums were an essential part of a complete conveyor system we designed and built to meet the customer’s exact requirements.”

Over the past 20 years, HES has manufactured conveyor pulley drums for a number of Rema Tip Top’s branches, supporting end-user customers across a range of industry sectors. As well as slatted pulley drums, HES also supplies Rema Tip Top with solid and spiral drum designs to meet a wider range of conveyor component requirements.

Hallamshire Engineering Services has extensive experience in producing high-quality conveyor drums for industries including mineral processing, material processing, aggregates, quarries, and manufacturing.
