After months of mediation, warring brothers, Abhishek and Abhinandan Lodha have ‘amicably settled’ their dispute over the use of the Lodha brand name.
According to a joint statement, Abhishek’s Macrotech Developers (MDL), which sells properties under the Lodha brand, will continue its use while younger brother Abhinandan will operate under the House of Abhinandan Lodha (HoABL) brand.
Lodha Group and House of Abhinandan Lodha have no connection with each other. “Both entities will communicate this widely,” the joint statement said.
Abhinandan has no rights or claims in MDL or other businesses of Abhishek and similarly Abhishek has no rights or claims in HoABL or other businesses of Abhinandan, according to the statement.
In January, MDL filed a suit in the Bombay high court against HoABL for infringement on its trademarks and sought damages of Rs 5,000 crore. The court sent the dispute for mediation and appointed retired Justice R V Raveendran as an arbitrator.
HoABL denied the claims, asserting that any references to the Lodha brand were made by third-party brokers and not the company itself. It also maintained that it had complied with the terms of the 2017 family settlement.
Earlier this month, Macrotech alleged that the HoABL forged board resolutions of the former, containing a no objection for the use of its trademarks, and filed the same with government authorities.
After that, HoABL filed a police complaint to investigate the alleged offences committed by unknown people to malign its name.
Macrotech develops residential and commercial properties mainly in Mumbai and Pune while HoABL sells residential plots in many places including Goa, Ayodhya, Konkan in Maharashtra and so on.
Macrotech posted record quarterly bookings of Rs 4,810 crore in the fourth quarter of the FY25, up 14% y-o-y. Overall, in FY25, the company’s bookings stood at Rs 17,630 crore, surpassing annual guidance of Rs 17,500 crore.
HoABL, on the other hand, is looking at sales of around Rs 2,200 crore in FY25 and about Rs 3,000 crore in FY26, Abhinandan Lodha told FE recently.
“Both Abhishek and Abhinandan express their heartfelt gratitude retired Justice R V Raveendran whose guidance in the mediation process was invaluable. The family is grateful to Justice Arif Doctor for encouraging them to follow the process of mediation,” the statement said on Monday.
“They also extend their sincere appreciation to all family elders and well-wishers who provided their counsel and support throughout the resolution process,” the statement said .
