The Northwest Lady Texans brought home a haul of 11 medals and 14 regional berths from the District 5/6-5A area championships last week.
Northwest finished second in the team standings with 124 points — 22 behind area champion Aledo. Arlington Heights scored 87 and placed third.
Levariya Pinder won the long jump with a leap of 19-07.50. She also struck gold in the 4×200 (1:39.97) with Nia Betts, Lyric Butcher and Kynnedy Tatum, and qualified for regionals after finishing fourth in high jump (5-00).
Jordie Nzumba was a silver medalist in the 100 hurdles in 15.72. Jada Betts clocked 47.16 to place second in the 300 hurdles, while Mackenzie Blue — a 2023 5A state qualifier — cleared 11-06 for silver in pole vault.
Attalia Farris grabbed three bronze medals. She finished third in the 100 hurdles (15.80), 300 hurdles (47.20) and in the 4×400 (4:03.31) with Penny Nichols, Jada Betts and Zoe Banis.
Nichols jumped 5-02 for third in high jump, and qualified in the 4×100 (48.51) with Danijah Alleyne, Nia Betts and Tatum. Banis was third in the 800 (2:23.53), while Stacey Petty earned bronze in discus (111-10).
Butcher earned a regional bid with a fourth-place finish in the 200 (25.08).
In the boys division, the Texans were third with 83 — four points behind area runner-up Arlington Heights. Aledo claimed the area title with 140.
Cooper Lutkenhaus ran away with a pair of gold medals in the 400 and 800, clocking 48.85 and 2:00.35, respectively. He added a silver finish in the 4×400 (3:21.58) with Lamaah Carter, Sam Smith and Adam Thurston.
Marshall Lewis added a win with a throw of 151-07 in discus.
Carter and Smith, along with Tristan Saddler and Caris Sela, were silver medalists in the 4×200 in 1:29.03. Nicholas Curley finished second in the 300 hurdles (38.85), while Chad Phillips leaped 45-02.75 for silver in triple jump.
Northwest’s qualifiers will compete at the 5A Region I championships Friday and Saturday at Lowrey Field at Plains Capital Park in Lubbock.
