Two arrested in connection with drug seizures in Ballymena


Several quantities of suspected drugs were seized

Police have arrested two men following the seizure of suspected Class B drugs after a property search.

Officers seized a quantity of suspected herbal cannabis and a sum of cash from a property in the Compassion Place area of Ballymena on April 3.

Two men, aged 47 and 20, were arrested in connection with a number of drug offences following the search.

The search of another property in the Princess Street area of the Co Antrim town was also carried out.

Suspected Class B drugs, three mobile phones and drug paraphernalia were seized from the property.

A spokesman for the PSNI said: “Police have arrested two men and seized suspected Class B drugs, following a search of a property in the Ballymena area on Thursday 3rd April.

“Officers from the District Support Team carried out a search of a residential premises in the Compassion Place area of the town, at around 12.30pm.

“A quantity of suspected herbal cannabis was seized, along with a sum of cash.

“Two men, aged 20 and 47, were arrested for a number of drug-related offences, in connection with the search. They both remain in custody at this time, assisting with enquiries.

“Meanwhile, another search in relation to this investigation, was carried out in the Princes Street area of the town on Thursday 3rd April, at around 1.50pm.

“A quantity of suspected Class B drugs, drug paraphernalia and three mobile phones were seized.

“Our investigation is continuing and police encourage anyone with information about the supply or use of illegal drugs to contact officers on 101.”
