We’re March-ing into spring. Lighter days, brighter sunshine, more colours bursting through – there’s a lightness and real sense of freshness and new beginnings.
Irvine house prices have increased by three per cent on last year’s prices and Saltcoats topped that with a four per cent increase so, with the market bouncing along and a sense of positivity in the air, it’s the perfect time to sell your property.
Let’s look at how to bring that sense of freshness and colour into your home too, to help it sell well.
Kerb appeal
The outside of your home sets the tone. Sweep up any leaves, pull any weeds, wash down the front door and give any paving a good scrub (a hard natural brush works well).

Make an entrance!
Impress your viewers as soon as the door opens. Decide on a ‘personality’ for your hallway – dramatic, calming, family-orientated, and lift away any clutter (jackets, shoes, toys, mail etc).
Storage boxes are a great way to provide a streamlined, clean look whilst having your items close to hand. Large mirrors give a sense of space and can make a space appear larger.
It’s a good idea to bring outdoors indoors with a few plants or fresh flowers.
Rinse and repeat
Bathrooms and kitchens are important to your property. Would you want to eat or wash in rooms that are not that clean? Noooooo!
Take everything off the countertops and give it a right good wipe down with a degreaser (try to avoid the smell of bleach).
In kitchens remove all fridge magnets, loads of tubs on the worktops and the same in the bathroom.
It’s a good idea to keep all the lotions and potions you need in a plastic tub and put it into a cupboard until you need them.
This ensures your bathroom is pristine. Try to keep the toilet lid down (in Fung Shui principles money flushes down the loo).
When cleaning, try to have all the windows open and door if possible. Let the fresh air flood into your fresh, spring-ready home, wow your viewers and help the offers spring forth.
