Dermot Weld has been the dominant force in the Tattersalls Irish 1,000 Guineas of late, winning two of the last three runnings of the Curragh Classic, and the Rosewell House trainer is back again with more hot property – this time Swelter.
She has gone down a tried-and-tested path, too. Homeless Songs landed the Guineas trial over seven furlongs at Leopardstown before winning the Classic in 2022 and Swelter won the same event this year, quickening smartly to deny the odds-on favourite Exactly, who has since finished a close fourth in the Poule d’Essai des Pouliches.
That form looks strong and the unbeaten Swelter is 4-1 second-favourite to give Weld a seventh Irish 1,000 Guineas.
