One shot dead over property dispute in Patna village

Patna: A person was shot dead in a violent clash between two groups over a property dispute at Lodipur village in Khusrupur police station area in Patna district on Monday afternoon. The victim, identified as Anmol Kumar, son of Uday Singh, succumbed to his injuries during treatment at the NMCH.
The incident took place around 12 noon when Uday, his son Anmol, and his brother, Sanjit Kumar, clashed with their rival group, comprising Piyush Kumar, Gautam Kumar, Tuntun Kumar and Kamlesh Yadav, over a property dispute. They attacked each other with sticks and rods. The matter escalated when one group started firing. A bullet hit Anmol’s chest, and he fell on the ground, police said.
Pankaj Kumar, SDPO-II, Fatuha, said upon receiving information about the firing incident, the police team reached the spot and found that a youth was shot. “He was admitted to the Fatuha PHC. The doctors referred him to Patna, where he died during treatment. During investigation, it came to light that in 2022 also a dispute had taken place between these two groups in which a person was killed. Anmol was sent to jail for the murder and was released about a year ago.
“Since the time of the incident, Anmol and his group were not living in Lodipur. Their house in Lodipur was vacant, and on Monday, without informing the police or anyone else, Anmol came with his group to clean the house. This led to the scuffle and shooting, in which Anmol was shot and killed. A report has been sent, and a case is being registered. The forensic team has already conducted an investigation,” the SDPO said.
Upon receiving information about the incident, Patna Rural SP Vikram Sihag reached the spot with the police team. SHO Ankita Kumari said over five shots were fired from both sides. “The police recovered three empty bullet shells from the spot,” she told this reporter.
