The owners of Cabot Circus are eyeing up vacant land next to the shopping centre’s car park for a new development set to include shops, flats and community spaces.
Little is known yet about the plans, but on Tuesday a Hammerson spokesperson confirmed they have submitted an ‘environmental impact assessment screening opinion request’ for the scheme that will be called Cabot Gate.
The spokesperson said the design by Redcliffe-based architects AHMM “reflects the potential not only to improve the local public realm and connectivity, but also to create a signature building… at this important gateway into the city”.

They added that Cabot Gate on the corner of Newfoundland Way and Bond Street South in St Jude’s “will bring much needed new uses into the city, including commercial and community spaces as well as a mix of living accommodation”.
