Police seized drugs and cash and issued an appeal to the public
Police have arrested a 36-year-old man after a morning drugs raid at a property in Newport. Officers from Gwent Police descended on Sandpiper Way in Duffryn at around 7am on Monday where they seized class B drugs and a substantial amount of cash.
A man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of possession of criminal property and possession of class B drugs. Never miss a Newport story by subscribing to our newsletter here A spokesperson for Gwent Police said: “Neighbourhood police officers in Newport are due to interview a suspect following a drugs raid in Duffryn on Monday morning.
“At around 7.20am on June 16, officers entered a property on Sandpiper Way before carrying out a search and finding class B drugs and a substantial amount of cash.
“They then arrested a 36-year-old man from Newport on suspicion of possession of criminal property and possession of class B drugs.
Sgt Chris Johnson said: “We continue to proactively plan enforcement activities like this morning to target those we suspect to be harming communities by committing drug offences.
“You can help us build a more detailed intelligence picture by letting us know of any concerns you have around drug supply in your neighbourhoods.
“Every bit of information counts, and can lead to us removing drugs from the streets and putting people behind bars.
“The 36-year-old suspect we arrested this morning remains in police custody ahead of being interviewed by officers.
