Former NRL champ Darius Boyd and his wife Kayla have splashed out $2.5million on a fixer-upper in the inner-city Brisbane suburb of Paddington.
The experienced house flippers, both 37, are using the property to launch a new development venture, the Deseño Group.
Newly released design plans reveal that the original 1930s four-bedroom, two-bathroom weatherboard will be transformed into a lavish multi-level mansion.
Since the pad is heritage-listed, the development plans won’t involve a complete demolition.
According to Kayla, the couple embraces the challenge, having already renovated two homes of a similar vintage, as reported by the Courier Mail.
‘In those previous homes, we’ve set a really strong foundation for homes that feel luxurious while keeping within that heritage scope and maintaining their original charm,’ Kayla told the publication.

The plans propose converting the original pad into a spacious five-bedroom home sprawled across three levels.
A development application submitted to the Brisbane City Council reveal that the couple aim to demolish the original ‘under house’ area which includes a carport and rear deck.
What will remain will be the façade and upper level will be raised.
Construction on the 708-square-metre block will feature two levels, each with a terrace, a pool and an adjoining pool house.
Kayla told the publication that the centre floor would be a dedicated ‘entertainment’ area.
Located a mere 4km from the CBD, the development will boast commanding views of the city skyline and surrounding area.
The Boyds are working with Rogue Architects to complete the property.
Taking to Instagram last week, the ambitious couple announced their new venture by dropping an image featuring the Deseño Group logo.

‘A new era begins. We’re proud to introduce Deseño Group. Our first project is in motion – more to come soon,’ they wrote in the caption.
They also included a studio portrait of themselves.
It comes after the couple scored a major real estate win last July when their Queensland mansion went under the hammer for a whopping $4.55million.
The sale of the five-bedroom, four-bathroom Brisbane home came just days after it was listed without a price guide.
Located in Grange, 6km from the CBD, it was snapped up by a buyer after just one inspection, reported The Courier Mail.
According to the publication, 198 people turned up to a walk through of the property on its only open day.
Realestate.com reports the home was the most viewed listing on the site and had attracted 13,000 views by July 15.
Darius and Kayla completed renovations last year after purchasing the block in 2022 for $1.6million.
The lovebirds have become known as quite the property flippers.
In 2022, they sold their ultra-stylish Brisbane investment home for $3million more than they paid for the site, so they could move into Mala upon completion.
Darius retired from first-grade footy in 2020 after a distinguished career playing with the Broncos as well as St. George and the Newcastle Knights.
The Queensland and Australian representative tied the knot with Kayla in 2012.
