HUNDREDS of student flats will be built on vacant land after plans were approved.
A planning application was submitted to Glasgow City Council in early 2024 proposing to create 454 student accommodation flats on ground at 99 Borron Street in North Glasgow.
Planning chiefs at the local authority have now given the proposals the green light, subject to conditions.
The development, by landowner Borron Partners Ltd, will consist of two blocks, a four-to-six storey and an eight-storey building.

It is planned to be built on a vacant brownfield site in Port Dundas which has been empty since the demolition of a previous building in January 2024.

According to documents, the development will also feature associated internal amenity and communal external amenity spaces.
The site is located near the Forth and Clyde Canal.
It will have 12 car parking spaces, almost 300 cycle spaces, an open courtyard, a garden, a fitness trail, and a games court.
Residents will have a “commanding view” of the city centre and beyond to the south.
However, views to the north will be limited.
Landscaping on site will include a mix of ornamental and native species.
Several trees will also be planted.
