SAN ANTONIO – In a significant effort to combat food insecurity, Dollar General announced that it donated over 15.2 million pounds of food in 2023 through its partnership with Feeding America.
This impactful initiative aims to address the critical needs of 44 million Americans facing food insecurity and brings much-needed nourishment to communities across the country.
The donated food comes directly from Dollar General stores and distribution centers, ensuring a streamlined process for getting resources to those who need them most. These donations are then distributed to local food banks, including the San Antonio Food Bank, which received over 393,000 pounds of food from Dollar General in 2023. This generous contribution represents a significant portion of the 2 million pounds of food donated by the company to the state of Texas alone.
Since partnering with Feeding America, the nation’s largest hunger-relief organization, in 2021, Dollar General’s commitment to fighting hunger has been unwavering. The company has contributed over $3 million and provided in-kind food donations, resulting in over 24 million meals distributed nationwide. This impactful collaboration demonstrates Dollar General’s dedication to serving the communities it operates in and making a positive difference in the lives of millions.
