Powerhouse Energy Group will become the exclusive supplier of 99.999% purity hydrogen for BSH’s proposed Fuel Cell (Penta) H2P project in Ballymena, Northern Ireland.
The EfW company has also been awarded three new patents in the United States and Europe.
Paul Emmitt, chief executive of Powerhouse Energy Group, said: “This is a first of its kind agreement and we are delighted to have entered into the Letter of Intent (LoI) with BSH for this potential DESNZ backed project.”
The final terms between all project participants for the fuel cell – DESNZ, Ecotricity, SONI and NIE Networks – are still being finalised.
Waste to gas
The Bridgend-based company specialises in the treatment of non-recyclable waste streams to be converted into a synthesis gas.
The gas can be used to create chemical precursors, hydrogen, electricity, heat and other industrial products.
Based on Brackla Industrial Estate in Bridgend, the company utilises a patented Distributed Modular Generation (DMG) technology which it said creates a carbon residue, rather than releasing CO2 into the atmosphere.
Emmitt added: “The continued advances that we have achieved on our patents further outlines the excellent progress that PHE is making, whilst also providing significant protection for our technology, differentiating PHE from others in the waste-to-energy sector.
“We look forward to providing further updates on this area in due course, but our mission is to offer DMG as the cleaner method for producing syngas, power, and heat compared to traditional processes.”
