AsusTek Asks Judge to Throw Out Wireless Charging Patent Lawsuit


ASUSTek Computer Inc. told a Texas federal judge a Taiwanese patent owner’s lawsuit doesn’t allege sufficient facts showing the manufacturer’s smartphones, gaming mouse, and wireless chargers practice protected methods covered by two patents.

IFPower Co. Ltd.’s complaint doesn’t sufficiently allege direct infringement and improperly relies on third-party documents and “generic marketing material” it hasn’t connected to the allegedly infringing products to allege induced infringement, according to Asus’s motion to dismiss filed Wednesday in the US District Court for the Western District of Texas. Asus denied infringing US Patent Nos. 7,298,361 and 7,863,860 and argued the ‘361 patent was invalid.
