The Team GB athletes to keep an eye on today…
Team GB launched themselves up the medal table yesterday, winning their first golds of Paris 2024 in team eventing and cross-country cycling.
And there are chances of more to come today for the Brits, with gymnastics and swimming both representing good opportunities for further success.
Starting in the pool, the men’s 4x200m freestyle relay headlines a big evening for Team GB in the water.
Thomas Dean, James Guy, Matthew Richards and Duncan Scott are hoping to defend their gold medal won in Tokyo. The heats start at 12.08pm UK time, with the final at 9.01pm.
Richards, alongside Jacob Whittle, will also be in men’s 100m freestyle action. The heats begin at 9.15am and the semi-finals will be at 6.30pm.
Anna Hopkin will take part in the women’s freestyle, with the heats at 11.39am and the semi-finals at 8.25pm.
Andy Murray and Dan Evans will draw plenty of excitement as they play in the second round of the men’s doubles.
They face Belgium’s Joran Vliegen and Sander Gille from 5pm..
The Team GB artistic gymnastics women’s team will also draw a big crowd and will take part in the team all-around final after qualifying in seventh.
Ruby Evans, Georgia-Mae Fenton, Abi Martin, Becky Downie and Alice Kinsella will start their medal run at 5.15pm.
Kinsella, who was part of the squad which finished with bronze in Tokyo, will also feature in the all-around final alongside Fenton.
Tokyo bronze medallist Matthew Coward-Holley and 2022 world silver medallist Nathan Hales will hope to be in the men’s trap shooting final from 2.30pm.
The remaining two qualifying rounds take place at 9am, with the top six qualifying for the final.
In judo, Lucy Renshall is in the women’s -63kg on medal day, with the last-32 starting from 9.30am.
Defending Olympic BMX freestyle champion Charlotte Worthington begins her defence in the preliminary stages from 12.25pm, and world champion Kieran Reilly competes for the men from 2.11pm.
Joe Clarke features in the men’s K1 canoe slalom from 3pm, hoping to defend his gold from Rio.
Top-ranked Brit Jack Draper then faces American Taylor Fritz in the second round of the men’s singles tennis, taking place at 11am.
At the same time, Katie Boulton and Heather Watson are due to pair up in the women’s doubles first round.
