2025 Island Games: Guernsey win double gold in cycling road race

Guernsey cyclist Pippa Inderwick won a sprint finish to take women’s road race gold at the 2025 Island Games.

She also led her island to team gold as Guernsey added to their women’s team trial silver earlier in the week.

Inderwick edged past Faroe Islands’ Susanna Skylv Sorensen on the line for the victory. Gibraltar’s Olivia Lett took bronze, just ahead of Guernsey’s Hannah Kennedy.

Chloe Truffitt finished seventh, while Andrea Nightingale was 10th as Guernsey riders dominated the event in Orkney.

“I still can’t quite believe it,” Inderwick told BBC Channel Islands.

“It’s always hard when it goes to a sprint in a bike race.

“It’s always a bit nerve-wracking, especially going into final bend – and it’s a sharp corner and it’s a long, long drag to the finish – so overwhelmed to come out with a win.”
