Where to Farm Complex Machinery in Dune: Awakening

Complex Machineries are required for a lot of buildables in Dune: Awakening. Crafting stations, components, and other items of a mechanical nature tend to require Complex Machinery as one of their main crafting materials, and if you want to progress through the tech tree steadily, you’ll need to keep a bunch of these handy.

Much like Microflora Plasteel Fiber, Complex Machinery cannot be made by players. They must be looted from the world, and given how big the world in Dune: Awakening is, finding a good place to get Complex Machinery can be a little intimidating. Here are a few spots you can try raiding if you ever need more of this mechanical component.

Dune Awakening Complex Machinery loot

You can loot Complex Machinery from ruined or semi-functional crafting stations found in various POIs. If you find a Small Ore Refinery or a Fabricator in a place that’s occupied by NPCs, then you’ll likely be able to loot it for a few pieces of Complex Machinery.

There are three types of POIs to look for when searching for Complex Machinery in Dune: Awakening:

  1. Ironworks facilities in Vermillius Gap
  2. Imperial Testing Stations
  3. Large NPC camps

Vermillius Gap is one of the best places to get large quantities Complex Machinery because it has all three of the aforementioned POIs in it. You can easily plot a trip around Vermillius Gap with your Sandbike that goes through the different Ironworks and the Testing Station. When you’re inside any of them, search every room for ruined crafting stations, and you should be able to get Complex Machinery.

Imperial Testing Stations tend to be more lucrative compared to the other listed sources. They typically have several wrecked crafting stations inside as well as plenty of enemies that you can beat and drain for blood.

The merchant at The Anvil also sells Complex Machinery for 500 Solaris a piece.

How to Use Complex Machinery

Complex Machinery is typically used for building vehicle parts and other machines. They’re one of the main crafting components for Sandbike, Buggy, and Ornithopter engines. It’s always a good idea to have a backup reserve of Complex Machinery, as the max durability of vehicle parts will eventually degrade, forcing you to build new ones as replacements.

On the topic of vehicles, raiding Imperial Testing Stations for Complex Machinery may be the best thing to do if you’re in a hurry. Containers in these areas have a chance to contain Particle Capacitors, components that are commonly used for crafting vehicle parts like engines and PSUs. They’re also needed for personal Suspensor Belts and Holtzman Shields.
