Union min Virendra Kumar seeks more land from Raj for centre for PwDs

Jaipur: Union minister for social justice and empowerment, Virendra Kumar, on Wednesday laid foundation stone for the Union govt’s composite regional centre (CRC) building, a centre for skill development and rehabilitation of persons with disabilities (PwDs). To be built at a cost of Rs 30 crore, this centre will also offer educational programmes in the rehabilitation sector.
While thanking the state govt for allocating two-and-a-half acres of land for setting up the CRC at Jamdoli’s social justice complex, Kumar requested the state govt to allocate an additional two-and-a-half acres of land for the centre.

Kumar also inaugurated a temporary campus for Integrated Skill Development Rehabilitation and Divyangjan Empowerment Regional Centre, which he said will create new employment opportunities for PwDs.
Kumar expressed confidence that the CRC would meet the rehabilitation needs of specially-abled individuals and other needy beneficiaries in Rajasthan. Administrative control of the CRC is under Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya National Institute for Persons with Physical Disabilities.
Avinash Gehlot, state minister for social justice and empowerment, said the Bhajan Lal-led govt is providing full support for all schemes of the Union govt. He said establishment of the regional centre in Jamdoli for differently-abled individuals was a positive step.
Gehlot highlighted that the CRC would allow differently-abled individuals to receive rehabilitation services at one place. The CRC aims to integrate differently-abled individuals into the mainstream of society, he said.
