Toyota will launch a mild-hybrid version of its Land Cruiser and is also bringing back a commercial version as an option for customers.
The Land Cruiser Commercial will be available first, with orders being taken from August 1, with first deliveries in September.
Prices start from just under £53,000 (commercial vehicle OTR).
The vehicle is converted at Toyota Manufacturing UK’s Burnaston plant, where the rear seats are removed, opaque steel panels installed in the rear windows, and a full-height steel bulkhead fitted to create a two-seat commercial van.
The Commercial version has a 2,000-litre load space that measures 1,685mm long, 1,090mm high and 1,286mm wide at its broadest point. A full floor tray protects the interior, and the model retains a 3.5-tonne towing capacity.
There will be one powertrain option at launch with Toyota’s 201bhp 2.8-litre four-cylinder diesel engine paired with an eight-speed automatic gearbox.
It offers permanent all-wheel drive with selectable drive modes and features such as Crawl Control, Hill-start Assist and Downhill Assist.
Standard equipment includes 18-inch alloy wheels, a power-adjustable and heated driver’s seat, dual-zone climate control, heated steering wheel, powered tailgate with a split-window hatch and a nine-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Safety tech includes Toyota Safety Sense, blind spot monitoring, parking sensors, and Safe Exit Assist.
CO2 figures have yet to be confirmed and further details will be released closer to launch.
As part of the Toyota Professional range, the Land Cruiser Commercial will be supported by Toyota’s Business Centre Network and includes a three-year/100,000-mile warranty with roadside assistance.
Mild-hybrid available in 2026
A 48V mild hybrid version will launch in the UK early next year.
The Hybrid 48V system combines Land Cruiser’s existing 2.8-litre engine and eight-speed automatic transmission with an electric motor-generator, lithium-ion hybrid battery and a DC-DC power converter.
Toyota confirmed that the motor-generator has been positioned high on the engine block so that the vehicle can still wade at low speed through water up to 700mm deep.
Further details will be confirmed this summer, including pricing and CO2 emissions.
