Toyota has announced equipment grades and features for its Urban Cruiser all-electric small SUV.
On sale from this summer, with prices still be announced, the Urban Cruiser joins the bZ4X as Toyota’s second fully electric car.
Twinned with the Suzuki e Vitara SUV unveiled in November, it launches under the carmakers’ ongoing collaboration and sits on Suzuki’s new Heartect-e architecture designed specifically for BEVs to maximise battery capacity and onboard space.
Full technical details are still under wraps but Toyota has previously said the line-up includes two lithium-iron phosphate battery options – 49kWh and 61kWh – plus front- and all-wheel drive powertrains to cover a wide range of customer preferences.
The launch line-up comprises three equipment grades: Icon, Design and Excel.
The entry level Icon grade comes with the 49kWh battery plus a heat pump, and is equipped with 18-inch alloy wheels and onboard features such as 10.1-inch multimedia display with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 10.25-inch driver display, rear-view camera and ambient cabin lighting.
Standard driver safety features deliver driver monitoring camera, blind spot monitor and pre-collision system/adaptive cruiser control/lane trace assist/road sign assist.
The Design grade adds in heated steering wheel and front seats, along with auto-retracting heated door mirrors, wiper de-icer and rear cabin air vents.
The top-rung Excel grade comes with the larger 61kWh battery and uplifts to 19-inch alloy wheels while adding in JBL premium sound system, bi-tone exterior paintwork, part-synthetic leather upholstery, panoramic roof with manual sunshade, LED adaptive high-beam headlights, wireless smartphone charger and panoramic view monitor.
The Urban Cruiser makes its UK public debut in a dedicated Toyota presentation at the Westfield London shopping centre in West London from this week until 2 March.
Prices – expected to start at around £30,000 – and further details will be announced later, ahead of order books opening in the summer and first deliveries due during the fourth quarter of this year.
