QUINCY, Ill. (KHQA) — Between late Monday night to early Tuesday morning, one or more people burglarized Terripin Farms in Quincy.
An estimated $15,000 worth of equipment and money was stolen.
Items stolen include cash registers, card readers, lock boxes and a safe, but no merchandise appears to have been taken.
The thieves cut the camera connections, then stole the box that the video was stored on.
Owner Jessica Whiston stated there is poor internet service in the area, meaning the video had to be stored locally.
Whiston went on to say that for a small business like hers, this is a massive blow.
“It’s a devastating impact on us. We had to save for many years to even be able to buy the systems that we use, and we keep all of our inventory for our co-op and all of our sales and EBT on those machines at this time. Plus, I’m building a bakery, I did not have the funds at all to replace the systems, so it was a major blow to our business, especially when we’re trying to grow right now,’ stated Jessica Whiston.
Whiston says the business will be able to recover from this, and there’s no threat of closing or laying off employees.
She will have to buy all new equipment, and if you are interested in helping, you can buy business cards from the farm.
Those never expire and can be used during any season and for any item on the farm.
If you have any information that could help catch the thieves, you can contact Terripin Farms at 217-440-4678.
