Northampton Town has unveiled plans to develop land next to its stadium for warehousing, at a public consultation event.
This month, the Cobblers finally opened the new East Stand at Sixfields after a decade-long construction saga. The League One club’s owners have since turned their attention to developing a 19-acre (7.7 hectare) site next to it.
The club said it was working with architects PRC to develop a “highly sustainable industrial warehouse development” on the land, which would help it boost revenue.
Cobblers chairman Kelvin Thomas said the plan would bring “many benefits to the club and the local community”.
Mr Thomas said: “We are very excited to continue to deliver on the plan which we announced in 2021.
“The first part of that plan was the completion of the LCS East Stand, and we are very proud that has been completed to an excellent standard and is operational and benefitting the football club on a daily basis.
“This public consultation is now the next step, which is also very exciting for the club.”

Fans who attended Thursday’s consultation event were invited to comment on the design of the proposed site, ask questions, meet the project team and provide feedback.
The club said the warehousing scheme could “significantly strengthen” its financial position, while improving local infrastructure and creating about 450 jobs.
